Preview of the Cetrel S.A. Case Study

Virtualization helps finance company cut operational and maintenance costs by 15 percent

Cetrel S.A., a Europe-wide e-money hub established in 1985 that manages card payment processing for 430 ATMs and over 12,000 point-of-sale devices, faced the dual challenge of guaranteeing 24x7 availability and lowering IT costs while meeting document-archiving regulations. To address these needs it engaged Dell EMC, deploying EMC Documentum and Dell EMC storage platforms alongside VMware virtualization to modernize its infrastructure and improve operational flexibility.

Dell EMC’s solution virtualized almost all production, test and development servers, expanded storage to 20 TB, and used EMC Documentum for compliant digital archiving; VMware enabled faster time to market, easier testing and more reliable failover. The outcome was measurable: operational and maintenance costs were reduced by about 15 percent, document management and retrieval became quicker and compliant, and Cetrel S.A. sustained the high availability required for its high-volume payment processing.
