IMS Evolve, a U.K.-based IoT provider for the cold supply chain and grocery retail sector, faced the challenge of helping customers reduce costly food spoilage, guarantee compliance and cut refrigeration costs while managing massive volumes of operational data across thousands of sites. To meet this need it partnered with Dell EMC (using Dell EMC IoT Solutions and Dell Edge Gateway devices) to deliver a secure, scalable platform that captures and contextualizes sensor and equipment data at the network edge.

Using Dell EMC IoT Solutions and Dell Edge Gateway hardware, IMS Evolve deployed edge-to-cloud monitoring and automated temperature control that collects 28 billion data points daily and optimizes refrigeration in real time. The Dell EMC–enabled solution delivered measurable benefits: £5.5 million (US$7 million) in power savings for a single application, 49% reduction in downtime, 40% lower reactive maintenance costs, 80% savings in central maintenance resourcing and asset availability up to 99.98%.
