Case Study: Andalusian Public Health System achieves 24x7 uptime and faster PACS access with Dell EMC

A Dell EMC Case Study

Preview of the Andalusian Public Health System Case Study

Support helps keep vital infrastructure up and running

The Andalusian Public Health System, serving 8.5 million people across 28 public hospitals, 1,500 health centers and 3,300 pharmacies, needed rock‑solid, 24x7x365 IT performance to support critical clinical, financial and operational services. To meet these demands the Systems and Infrastructure team relies on Dell EMC storage and support—including Symmetrix VMAX, Centera, VNX, Isilon, ESRS monitoring and PowerPath—to manage some 100 TB of primary data and mission‑critical PACS and RIS workloads.

Dell EMC deployed VMAX arrays in primary and replication sites, Centera for PACS, VNX arrays (including a 90 TB VNX 5600) and Isilon scale‑out NAS (more than 1.4 PB per data center), and provides 24/7 Premium Support and ESRS monitoring; when a VMAX disk‑access issue degraded RIS performance, Dell EMC supplied temporary PowerPath licensing and restored full performance within hours. As a result, Dell EMC’s solutions and support have increased availability through consolidated replication, simplified and accelerated sharing of medical images across 17 hospitals and the whole health system, freed the IT team to focus on users, and reduced cost and complexity.
