A Dell EMC Case Study
Südwestrundfunk, a leading German public broadcaster serving more than 14 million residents, faced rapid content growth and an aging NAS/storage environment across five data centers (Baden‑Baden, Stuttgart, Mainz). To replace legacy OS/2 file servers and older Symmetrix arrays while minimizing editorial downtime, Südwestrundfunk engaged Dell EMC, deploying Celerra (CNS‑14), CLARiiON arrays, VMware virtualization and EMC migration tools.
Dell EMC delivered a consolidated design using upgraded Celerra/CLARiiON platforms, MirrorView, Celerra Replicator V2, Open Migrator and VMware host‑based mirroring, backed by EMC Global Services for installation, project management and Certified Data Erasure. The migration (delivery late January, implementation in February, data migration in April, go‑live early May) finished on schedule, reduced the storage footprint while supporting four more years of growth, enabled departmental storage partitioning, improved operational responsiveness via call‑home remote support (over 70% of issues resolved remotely), and freed internal staff for higher‑value work.
