Cosentry, a rapidly growing cloud-based IT services provider with six U.S. data centers and an expanding European presence, faced costly, inefficient tape-based backup and a fragmented server, networking, and storage stack while looking to launch a Backup as a Service (BaaS). To modernize its infrastructure and deliver virtualization-optimized backup and recovery, Cosentry selected Dell EMC technologies including Avamar, Data Domain and Vblock converged systems (with VMware and VMAX components).

Dell EMC implemented Avamar deduplication software, Data Domain storage and Vblock Systems to provide guest- and image-level VM backups, rapid restores, and bandwidth-efficient remote backups. The deployment cut customer backup windows by about 50%, achieved 99.99% VM uptime, delivered >60% deduplication for many customers, realized 250% savings, sped deployment to weeks, and lowered operating costs—helping Cosentry strengthen its competitive BaaS offering.
