SRM University’s College of Engineering, serving some 30,000 students, needed to expand cloud-computing education while reducing lab maintenance and centralizing desktop management. To meet rising industry demand for cloud skills, SRM University partnered with Dell EMC to deploy an EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure (including EMC VNX unified storage, Dell servers, HP networking, and VMware vSphere) as the platform for a new cloud computing program.

Dell EMC’s VSPEX solution (implemented with Uniware Systems) virtualized 60% of the university’s labs, enabled virtual desktops and centralized management, and simplified administration. The deployment cut capital expenditure by 30%, reduced system administration time by about 80% (from five admins to one), improved storage performance with VNX, and helped train the next generation of cloud IT professionals.
