Case Study: Serengeti Asset Management achieves rapid, near-real-time disaster recovery with Dell EMC

A Dell EMC Case Study

Serengeti Asset Management - Customer Case Study

Serengeti Asset Management, a New York–based multi-strategy hedge fund with 40 employees and $1.5 billion in assets under management, needed better recovery-time and recovery-point objectives and near‑realtime replication after its SAN-to‑SAN replication left Exchange snapshots minutes behind production. To address this, the firm worked with Dell EMC to migrate to a 100% virtualized infrastructure using VMware vSphere and Dell EMC technologies including RecoverPoint and VNX unified storage.

Dell EMC implemented RecoverPoint continuous, block-level replication with VNX storage in a virtualized environment, giving Serengeti DVR‑like multiple recovery points and the ability to restore to any point in time. The result: Exchange snapshots in seconds, the entire environment failed over to the DR site and was back online in a little more than two hours during Superstorm Sandy, a two‑hour failback later, faster recovery than many peers (some took up to 36 hours), and reduced OPEX through virtualization—demonstrating measurable business continuity and competitive advantage provided by Dell EMC.
