A Dell EMC Case Study
Mastek, a 3,200+ employee IT services and consulting firm, was facing an aging NAS storage estate nearing end of support, a 300% data growth over five years (demand topping 20 TB while combined capacity was ~11 TB), poor scalability and performance, and slow, bandwidth‑intensive backup and replication processes. After evaluating vendors, Mastek selected Dell EMC VNX unified storage to replace its legacy NAS with a next‑generation, FC‑based SAN.
Dell EMC implemented VNX with phased migration support (with partner Micro Clinic), enabling thin provisioning and data deduplication, NDMP backups, and realtime/periodic replication across sites. As a result Mastek moved to ~22 TB in production, improved system performance by about 40%, reduced storage capacity requirements by ~40%, cut bandwidth utilization by 25%, significantly shortened backup windows, and realized higher ROI and stronger governance compliance.
