Masdar, Abu Dhabi’s renewable energy company, faced fragmented storage (two SANs and a NAS holding 30 TB), poor utilization, rising TCO, lack of virtualization support, and a risky 72-hour backup window with slow, unreliable restores. To address these challenges Masdar selected Dell EMC solutions including EMC VNX unified storage, EMC NetWorker, EMC Data Domain with DD Boost, and EMC Documentum to consolidate and modernize its infrastructure.

Dell EMC implemented a unified VNX storage environment and an integrated NetWorker/Data Domain backup solution, centralizing backups and enabling VMware integration and rapid scalability. The results included a reduction in full backup time from 72 hours to 11 hours, a 95% deduplication ratio and 35x compression, a 25% lower TCO and roughly 30% higher backup administration productivity, faster restores, and improved availability for mission‑critical applications.
