Major sports venue scores a big win for fan safety with Dell EMC and Genetec

MetLife Stadium, the 90,000‑seat venue hosting NFL games and major events, faced a critical security challenge: its legacy system stored only six days of video and relied on tape backups that caused up to 10 hours of downtime, risking loss of crucial footage. To meet a tight deadline ahead of the season and Super Bowl readiness, MetLife Stadium selected Dell EMC and its Isilon scale‑out storage (integrated with the Genetec Security Center) to overhaul video retention and monitoring.

Dell EMC deployed two Isilon NL‑Series clusters supporting 575 IP cameras, enabling 24/7 coverage of every seat and increasing real‑time retention from six to 45 days with a long‑term archive exceeding three years. The solution eliminated tape backups, cut video storage administration from about five hours to under five minutes per week, saved roughly $6,000 annually, and delivered rapid, scalable performance — all credited with improving fan safety and incident investigations.
