Case Study: Samsonite achieves 50% storage reduction and 46% faster project delivery with Dell EMC VSPEX

A Dell EMC Case Study

Preview of the Samsonite Case Study

Luggage manufacturer meets commitment to quality with agile infrastructure

Samsonite, the global luggage manufacturer, faced rapidly growing demands for data storage, processing and backup while its physical servers and direct‑attached storage were reaching end of support. The legacy environment caused underutilization, single points of failure, high power/space/cooling costs and slow project delivery. To modernize its data center, Samsonite engaged Dell EMC (via partner VDA Infosolutions) to deploy a Dell EMC VSPEX converged infrastructure using VNXe unified storage, VMware vSphere and Intel servers.

Dell EMC’s VSPEX solution consolidated servers and storage, introduced virtualization, thin provisioning, compression and deduplication, and improved redundancy and scalability. The implementation cut project schedules by 46%, halved storage capacity requirements, reduced server purchases by about 70%, lowered total cost of ownership and delivered improved ROI and faster, more agile growth scaling for Samsonite.
