IT thought leader chooses EMC XtremIO and VMware for groundbreaking VDI project

Raiffeisenbank Bulgaria, the country’s fourth‑largest bank with more than 3,000 employees, faced failing legacy desktops, incompatible hardware for a Windows 7 migration, and limited data‑center space, power, and cooling. To modernize its desktop environment and enable mobility, the bank pursued VDI using VMware vSphere and selected Dell EMC’s XtremIO all‑flash storage to support the project.

Dell EMC deployed XtremIO (two X‑bricks in the main datacenter and one in backup) integrated with VMware to deliver a highly available VDI platform with sub‑millisecond latency and inline deduplication. The solution produced measurable results: approximately 12–13:1 deduplication, virtual desktops provisioned in under an hour versus days for traditional builds, 100% positive user feedback, significant space/power/cooling savings, and easier management through VMware vCenter — freeing capacity and enabling broader application consolidation.
