Dubai International Airport faced a scalability and performance challenge as passenger volumes and surveillance demands climbed—Terminal 3 alone handles about 85,000 passengers per day and required a digital, high‑performance physical security solution that satisfied both IT (tiering, integration, TCO, bandwidth) and security teams (image quality, reliability, intuitive GUI). Dell EMC was engaged to provide a unified physical security platform, including Dell EMC unified storage and software (Navisphere Manager, PowerPath) integrated with third‑party surveillance cameras and video management tools.

Dell EMC implemented a SAN‑based unified storage solution integrated over a SAN fiber network with MPEG4 video encoding, initially supporting more than 1,500 cameras and over one petabyte of usable capacity, with SAN switches across two data centers for resilience. The deployment delivered faster real‑time data access, instant event search, reliable video backup/archiving, easier retention‑policy changes, and high availability for recorders—measurable improvements in surveillance performance, scalability to meet future growth, and enhanced support for investigations.
