Group Health Centre, an Ontario multi‑specialty ambulatory care provider, faced a critical EMR challenge when its longtime EMR vendor, Clinicare, retired the solution and GHC’s HP/IBM storage exhibited stability and performance limits. After evaluating options, GHC selected Epic for its EMR and Dell EMC’s VNX2 unified storage to replace the aging infrastructure.
Dell EMC deployed VNX2 (with flash and SAS tiers) to run Epic—virtualized on VMware vSphere—hosting production and test workloads. The solution delivered a tenfold improvement in I/O response time, eliminated unplanned EMR outages since go‑live, reduced IT administrative effort, and significantly improved physician satisfaction and efficiency.
