EMC VSPEX provides cost-effective performance and flexibility

Fabick Cat, a John Fabick Tractor Company dealer with 14 locations and more than 550 employees, faced fragmented storage that couldn’t be managed as a single pool and projected IO requirements more than triple its existing capabilities. After a procurement process, Fabick Cat selected Dell EMC’s VSPEX Proven Infrastructure—deploying EMC VNX unified storage with the EMC FAST Suite, Cisco UCS blade servers and Microsoft Hyper-V—to consolidate and modernize its infrastructure.

Dell EMC’s VSPEX solution consolidated Fabick Cat’s storage onto VNX (with a FLASH‑first mix of Flash and high‑capacity drives and FAST caching/tiering), upgraded networking/compute, and virtualized 94% of the environment with Hyper‑V. The deployment delivered measured benefits: performance gains of roughly 9–25% (up to 25%), a platform 30% more cost‑effective than the nearest competitor, a 78% reduction in software virtualization costs, zero downtime since deployment, and easy scalability (already adding 20 TB), significantly lowering TCO and improving Microsoft application performance.
