EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure accelerates road to private SAP cloud

Loewe AG, a German premium home-entertainment manufacturer, needed to replace an aging SAP storage infrastructure that was five to seven years old, driving rising maintenance and operating costs. The company required a simplified, scalable, high-performance virtual platform and optimized backup for its SAP/Oracle landscape. To meet these needs Loewe partnered with Dell EMC (with Xerabit as project partner) and selected the EMC VSPEX Proven Infrastructure including VNX unified storage, VMware vSphere, the EMC Total Efficiency Pack, NetWorker, Data Domain and RecoverPoint.

Dell EMC’s VSPEX solution delivered VNX storage with FLASH 1st and FAST automated tiering, VMware virtualization, RecoverPoint replication, and NetWorker/Data Domain for LAN‑free backups and inline deduplication. The deployment provided higher, more predictable performance and improved server utilization as Loewe virtualizes its SAP landscape, continuous mirroring and application‑consistent snapshots for non‑disruptive protection, and roughly a 10× reduction in backup storage (about 37 TB of current data stored on ~3.7 TB). Dell EMC’s proven stack gave Loewe a scalable, cost‑efficient foundation for a private SAP cloud.
