A Dell EMC Case Study
Secure-24, a managed IT services and hosting provider with three U.S. data centers and more than 4,400 virtual machines, needed a competitive Backup as a Service (BaaS) offering to address customers whose backups stretched over days and who treated recovery as an afterthought. To build a reliable, virtualization-optimized service, Secure-24 selected Dell EMC technologies including Avamar, Data Domain (with Data Domain Boost for Oracle RMAN), NetWorker, VNX and VMware to underpin the new BaaS.
Dell EMC implemented an integrated backup and recovery platform—image and agent-based Avamar backups, Data Domain deduplication storage with Boost for RMAN, and NetWorker management—deployed across Secure-24’s virtualized environment. The solution achieved roughly 96% deduplication for VMware backups, reduced typical backup windows to 8–10 hours (with some large database restores cut from days to about 30 minutes), protected over 1,100 VMs with image-based backups, lowered bandwidth and replication windows, and helped drive Secure-24’s strongest sales quarter.
