Channel 5, a UK terrestrial broadcaster expanding into new digital channels and delivery platforms, needed to move from tape‑based processes to a more efficient file‑based architecture to reduce costs and complexity and support large video files, VoD and HD workflows. To address storage, Channel 5 selected Dell EMC’s Isilon clustered storage as the scalable, flexible foundation for its media operations.

Dell EMC deployed Isilon nodes as an ingest and browse platform that Channel 5 has replicated to three sites, enabling desktop access to digitized content, streamlined transfers, and easier testing of media managers and workflows. Dell EMC’s solution improved management of large video files, met future scale and performance requirements for Video on Demand and high‑definition TV, and lowered overall operational costs.
