Bank Zachodni WBK (BZ-WBK), Poland’s third-largest bank, needed to move to a private cloud and consolidate diverse server and storage platforms to improve agility, provisioning, and disaster-recovery capabilities. To address storage fragmentation and prepare its VMware/x86 environment for cloud operations, the bank engaged Dell EMC (alongside VMware) and deployed EMC VMAX, Celerra, and Avamar as core components.

Dell EMC consolidated the bank’s infrastructure, tiered virtual machines on VMware, and implemented unified storage and automated backup with VMAX, Celerra, and Avamar. As a result, BZ-WBK is “100 percent cloud ready,” with faster VM provisioning, higher storage utilization, simplified management, reduced storage footprint—and lower power and cooling costs—while progressing to fully automated disaster recovery with Dell EMC solutions.
