Universal Pictures needed to reach and engage audiences for the two-week promotion of the Matt Damon thriller The Adjustment Bureau, but traditional targeting tactics couldn’t deliver the scale required. UP turned to DataXu, an integrated media-optimization platform, to extend reach through exchange-traded video pre-roll and improve engagement during the short campaign window.

DataXu and partners were tasked to maximize clicks-for-audio and replays, testing premium content, content, behavioral, demographic and DataXu Audience Discovery targeting. Using real-time multivariate analysis to identify high-performing times, content, geographies and non-obvious signals (like browser type), DataXu’s Audience Discovery delivered twice the price/performance of traditional tactics at 15× the scale.
