BuzzFeed, the international media company, was receiving more than 1,000 applications a day but struggled to keep up with the volume because many candidates were not a strong fit for open roles. To improve applicant quality, increase inbound hiring efficiency, and attract more qualified women to technical jobs, BuzzFeed turned to Datapeople and its job description guidance and analytics platform.
Using Datapeople, BuzzFeed’s recruiters collaborated on job descriptions and aimed to post only roles scoring 85 or higher. The result was a stronger talent pipeline: jobs with high scores attracted 125% more qualified candidates who reached the interview stage, 50% more candidates qualified for phone interviews, 50% fewer sourced applicants, and 40% more women applicants for engineering roles, with 100% more qualified women reaching the phone screen stage.
