Samsung needed to run product analytics on millions of Galaxy smartphones worldwide while protecting personal and sensitive information, especially to meet European and U.S. privacy requirements. The company wanted to keep collecting device logs and usage data without exposing names, device IDs, or other PII, and it used Dataguise to help secure that data in a cloud-based Hadoop environment.

Dataguise implemented DgSecure for Hadoop, including Flume and EMR security agents, to automatically discover, protect, and encrypt sensitive data before it was stored in Amazon S3 across seven AWS clusters. The solution enabled non-blocking analytics, selective decryption for authorized users, and high availability, giving Samsung a fully cloud-based protection layer for product analytics with 100% flexibility to its requirements.
