Case Study: MEC-BioGas reduces CO2 emissions and boosts uptime with Danfoss VLT® drives

A Danfoss Case Study

Preview of the MEC–BioGas Case Study

World leader in biogas reduces CO2 emissions by 50,000 t annually

MEC-BioGas, a Danish biogas producer, processes more than 830,000 tons of biomass each year to generate clean heat and power, but it must keep a large, 24/7 operation running reliably with many critical pumps, blowers, decanters, and conveyors controlled from a central system. The company needed a dependable, easy-to-use drive solution that could support long motor cables across a physically large plant.

Danfoss supplied around 150 VLT® drives, including VLT® AQUA Drive and VLT® AutomationDrive FC 301/FC 302 units, integrated with PROFIBUS and SCADA for centralized monitoring and control. The drives enabled efficient operation without extra filters for cable runs up to 150 meters, and a DrivePro® service agreement added proactive support and fast on-site response within five hours. As a result, MEC-BioGas improved uptime, avoided unplanned breakdowns, and helped reduce its CO2 footprint by 50,000 tons per year.
