Case Study: Honeywell achieves reliable, energy-saving process cooling with Danfoss Turbocor magnetic bearing chillers

Variable speed guarantees reliable production and comfort in factory

Honeywell’s Chongqing automotive materials plant needed a chiller solution that could handle both comfortable workshop air conditioning and reliable process cooling for precision equipment, while also meeting strict energy-efficiency and environmental requirements. To address this challenge, Honeywell selected Danfoss technology in the form of Danfoss Turbocor™ magnetic-bearing compressors used in Haier process chillers.

Danfoss provided variable-speed, oil-free magnetic-bearing compressor technology that helped the chillers deliver stable cooling year-round, support low-temperature cooling and hot-water discharge without secondary heat exchange, and eliminate oil-system maintenance. The result was a highly efficient system with a Ch-IPLV as high as 11.5 and energy savings of up to 50% compared with traditional screw chillers, making the installation a benchmark for process cooling applications.
