The Spanish ventilation specialist Zitron was responsible for designing a critical and reliable ventilation system for the underground tunnels and stations of the Doha Metro. Their challenge was to find a drive control solution for powerful axial fans that could operate reliably over long cable lengths in high ambient temperatures up to 50°C, while also meeting strict requirements for safety, EMC, and harmonics.

Danfoss provided its VLT® HVAC Drive FC 102 frequency control, which was specifically tailored for this HVAC application. The solution from Danfoss allowed for reliable control over long distances without needing extra components and included a Fire Mode to ensure continuous operation for safety. This achieved maximum energy efficiency for the ventilation system and guaranteed safe, reliable performance under demanding conditions.
