Pon Equipment & Pon Rental Norway AS needed to convert a diesel-powered 25-ton excavator into a fully battery-operated machine to meet Norway’s new zero-emission construction site policy. Danfoss, through its Editron electrification technology, supported the development of a cleaner alternative to the traditional diesel excavator.

Danfoss implemented its EDITRON drivetrain and software-led powertrain system to electrify the excavator, creating the Cat 323F Z-line. The result is a zero-emission, significantly quieter machine that can run for up to seven hours on a single battery charge under nominal load, with benefits including lower emissions, safer and more reliable operation, shorter payback time, and strong early market demand with seven orders already received.
