The International Energy Agency highlighted a major challenge facing the global water industry: water and energy are tightly linked, and rising demand for both is driving higher costs, more leakage, and greater energy consumption. Danfoss is positioned in the case study as the technology vendor helping address this issue, with a focus on pressure management, pressure sensors, and variable speed drives for pumps and booster systems.

Danfoss’ solution centers on smarter pressure control across the water supply system, including splitting networks into pressure zones to reduce excess pressure, leakage, and pumping energy. The case study notes that lowering non-revenue water to 6% globally could save up to 130 TWh of electricity, equivalent to Poland’s entire electricity demand, showing the scale of the potential impact from Danfoss’ approach.
