A Danfoss Case Study
GTAIR, working on a renovation project for the Key Laboratory of Nuclear Analytical Techniques at the Shanghai Institute of Applied Physics, needed an HVAC system capable of providing highly precise temperature control, reliable fresh-air handling, and variable cooling response for a two-storey research laboratory. The challenge was to meet strict scientific testing requirements while maintaining comfort and energy efficiency, using advanced air-conditioning technology from Danfoss.
Danfoss supplied a validated inverter HVAC solution centered on VZH inverter scroll compressors, CDS303 drives, and control components including ETS12.5 electric expansion valves, EKC312 superheat controllers, AKS3000 pressure transmitters, and AKS21 temperature sensors. The system delivered smooth operation, reduced start-stop cycling, and precise temperature control within ±0.3°C, while lowering power consumption and CO₂ emissions; it has run smoothly since commissioning in December 2013 and earned strong praise from researchers.
