Drives technology: the recipe for precise actuator control

Schiebel, a small Austrian manufacturer of electric actuators for the process industry, needed a compact and robust AC drive for precise flow control in demanding applications like gas pipelines. The drive had to integrate directly into their actuator enclosures without additional cooling and provide high starting torque. They turned to Danfoss for a solution.

Danfoss implemented its VLT® Midi Drive FC 280, which met Schiebel's stringent requirements with its compact, temperature-resistant design and high performance. The results were excellent, allowing Schiebel to offer state-of-the-art precision control. This partnership contributed to Schiebel's largest single order, a project involving around 1,000 actuators for a power plant in Greece, about 300 of which were controlled by Danfoss drives.
