Danfoss R-290 components enable Delfield to meet customer and regulator demands

Delfield, part of Welbilt, Inc., faced growing pressure from both regulators and customers to cut emissions and improve energy efficiency without sacrificing performance in its restaurant refrigeration equipment. When updating its Mark7 custom fabrication line, the company chose R-290 (propane) as a refrigerant, but its flammability and the need for smaller, lower-charge systems created new design challenges. Delfield turned to Danfoss for compatible components and support.

Danfoss helped Delfield implement an R-290-based refrigeration solution using components such as thermostatic expansion valves, temperature controls, and filter driers suited to commercial refrigeration applications. The result was a more energy-efficient system aligned with lower-carbon requirements and customer expectations, while maintaining performance. The case study does not provide specific numeric metrics, but it highlights that Danfoss enabled Delfield to meet both regulatory and market demands with R-290 technology.
