When updating its Mark7 custom fabrication line, the company chose R-290 (propane) as a refrigerant, but its flammability and the need for smaller, lower-charge systems created new design challenges. Danfoss helped Delfield implement an R-290-based refrigeration solution using components such as thermostatic expansion valves, temperature controls, and filter driers suited to commercial refrigeration applications. The result was a more energy-efficient system aligned with lower-carbon requirements and customer expectations, while maintaining performance.
