A Danfoss Case Study
Watec, a San Juan County, Washington-based designer of small-scale reverse osmosis plants, needed a low-maintenance solution for a remote island SWRO project serving an intermittently occupied vacation property. Working with Danfoss, they looked for a high-pressure pump that could reduce maintenance needs and perform reliably in an isolated location where easy servicing would be difficult.
Danfoss supplied an APP 7.2 axial piston pump for the plant, installed in 2006. The result was a system that has produced several million gallons per year for more than a decade without any pump maintenance, with no leakage, pressure drops, or hammering. Danfoss’s low-pulsation pump also helped protect the rest of the plant and contributed to very low energy and ownership costs.
