Benxi - Customer Case Study

Benxi, the old steel capital of China, was struggling with severe air pollution and inefficient coal-based district heating. Working with Danfoss, the city looked to capture and use surplus heat from Benxi Steel Company to improve its heating infrastructure and reduce reliance on coal, using advanced heat exchange and control technology.

Danfoss implemented a district heating solution with 40 heat exchange substations and advanced balancing and control equipment to optimize heat supply. The result was greater heating stability and comfort for residents, along with a reduction of 26,500 tons of coal use per year and 69,000 tons of CO2 emissions, helping Benxi become a model city for excess heat utilization.
