ACCIONA relies on Danfoss pumps - builds SWRO plant and reduces energy consumption

ACCIONA Agua, working with Danfoss, needed to replace an aging shared ultra-pure water plant for the Saras Refinery and Sarlux Power Plant in Sardinia. The challenge was to deliver 12,000 m³/day of ultra-pure water quickly, with minimal capital expenditure, while dramatically reducing the plant’s high energy consumption.

Danfoss supplied compact APP 86 high-pressure pumps, iSave 70 energy recovery devices, VFDs, and pressure transmitters for a containerized, four-train SWRO plant. The new system was built in just six months and cut energy consumption by 88%, reducing power use from about 20 kWh/m³ to 2.4 kWh/m³, while also improving maintenance speed and plant availability.
