DHL (DHL Parcel) relied on automated end-to-end tests to support more than 400 deployments a year and a labeling tool that generates 100,000–150,000 shipping labels daily. Despite using Cypress and Cypress Cloud, long test run times—often exceeding build times—were slowing development, discouraging engineers from writing new tests, and causing unbalanced parallelization and wasted CPU capacity.

Working with Cypress, DHL implemented Cypress Cloud’s parallelization, added machines via Jenkins, used Cypress’s automatic test-time monitoring, and containerized runs with Docker and Docker Compose. These changes cut test runs from 7 minutes to 3.5 minutes (a 65% reduction), enabled 820k automated tests monthly, increased test coverage by 50%, balanced CPU utilization, and improved overall testing satisfaction.
