IMEX Group, the global leader behind the largest meetings and incentive travel trade shows in Frankfurt and Las Vegas, had to cancel IMEX Frankfurt 2020 due to the pandemic. Facing the loss of a major industry gathering, the team committed to supporting the sector by pivoting in six weeks to a free virtual event focused on education, networking and 1:1 business meetings—recreating the show’s core elements while keeping the experience seamless for attendees.

Using Cvent registration, the CrowdCompass mobile app and a 6Connex-powered virtual environment centered on a 3D PlanetIMEX hub, IMEX delivered EduMonday Live and 45 sessions with 44 speakers. The event drove strong engagement: 95% app adoption, ~6,000 EduMonday registrations (about 50% attended), 1,500 individual appointments, 12,500 seats filled across sessions, 25,000 unique visitors and thousands of in-app interactions—while capturing rich attendee data to inform future events.
