Portola Hotel & Spa Monterey Bay, a full-service conference hotel with 60,000 sq. ft. of meeting space, needed to fill room blocks more efficiently and improve the online booking experience to capture shoulder dates and extended stays. The team saw frequent single-night gaps in blocks and wanted a smarter way to keep links open longer and make it easier for attendees to book multiple nights.
By implementing Cvent Passkey (Primary Inventory and ARI) and updating attendee website templates, the hotel reduced phone traffic, protected group rates, and gained better booking visibility and reporting. The results: a 27% increase in open events (275 events in 2018), online reservations rose from 7% to 68% (a 61 percentage‑point increase), and $303,605 in extended-stay revenue — a 135% year‑over‑year increase.
