HIMSS, the global Healthcare Information and Management Systems Society, partnered with RDC and Cvent to reimagine its flagship Global Health Conference & Exhibition after the 2020 pause. Faced with shrinking event attendance, more competition, and the need to serve 100,000+ members while protecting revenue, HIMSS needed to future-proof a massive hybrid event (42,000 in-person attendees, 1,328 exhibitors, 595,000 sq. ft.) by designing a more attendee-centric, digitally enabled experience.
RDC applied its Anatomy of Experience framework—five pillars (Navigation, Relevance, Personalization, Connection, Engagement)—and worked with Cvent to build an integrated tech and content strategy: an Event Quarterback role, curated education pods, 90-minute TV-style digital segments, professional anchors, and year-round on-demand programming. The result was 6,000+ virtual registrants, record content engagement across 20+ countries, extended post-show views, de‑risked 2021 revenue, and a sustainable multi-year foundation that strengthened member connection and event KPIs.
