A large, global healthcare organization with more than 300 offices and over $30 million in combined transient hotel spend acquired another company mid-year and needed to consolidate two hotel programs while running a mid-year transient hotel RFP across key domestic markets. To identify synergies, reduce costs, and standardize preferred properties and terms, the organization partnered with Cvent.
Cvent analyzed both programs, identified overlapping properties and high-volume markets, and used a tiered, data-driven approach to map hotels to offices, solicit proposals via Cvent Travel, and run online reverse auctions. The nine-month effort reduced properties in key markets by 52% (down to 32), lowered the average weighted rate by $2 for $81,000 in savings, and secured 18‑month rate/amenity commitments for 42% of accepted properties.
