A Culture Amp Case Study
The Motley Fool, a financial services company founded in 1993, used Culture Amp surveys to diagnose cultural and engagement challenges as it scaled. Surveys showed two key drivers of engagement — open, honest two‑way communication and fair reward/recognition through the right project opportunities — and revealed large engagement score spreads tied to frequent team moves and unclear leadership on small project teams.
In response, leaders modeled candid communication, the company began posting all openings internally to make project assignments fair, and reorganized into a matrix of four smaller business units to clarify managers and team focus. The changes were welcomed, People Operations will measure impact in the next survey, and early effects include greater perceived fairness and clearer leadership that should reduce engagement disparities.
