OverDrive, a leading digital distributor of eBooks, audiobooks and streaming media, faced a cultural challenge as it scaled: the close-knit, entrepreneurial feel of its early days was fading and a regional survey didn’t reveal what truly mattered to employees or which actions would improve engagement.
OverDrive adopted Culture Amp’s people‑analytics and engagement survey tools, then acted on the data—revising mission, vision and values, sharing quarterly goals companywide, introducing a Professional Growth Planner and a Slack “kudos” channel, and conducting rapid review-and-action cycles. Within a year participation rose from 93% to 96% and overall engagement increased from 61% to 71%, with ongoing goals to strengthen systems, leadership, innovation and feedback.
