How GoCardless improved diversity and inclusion

GoCardless, a UK-based recurring payments specialist, was growing rapidly and needed to build a more diverse and inclusive workforce to support its scale-up journey. The company wanted to better understand how its diversity and inclusion strategy was landing with employees, and it used Culture Amp’s employee engagement and Diversity and Inclusion survey product to dig deeper into employee experience across different demographics.

With Culture Amp, GoCardless measured belonging, voice, and representation, then used the insights to shape targeted actions around hiring, policies, and internal mobility. Culture Amp helped GoCardless benchmark progress and track impact, contributing to a rise in women in engineering from 5% to 11%, an increase in mixed-ethnicity employees to 13%, and 88% of employees saying diversity and inclusion are important to them, up 8% from 2018.
