Aligned Leisure, a Richmond Football Club subsidiary that took over management of Cardinia Shire’s eight recreation centres in July 2016, faced the challenge of transitioning almost 150 existing staff while protecting community relationships and maintaining service quality. Leadership prioritized people and a customer-first focus to avoid losing employees or customers during the change.
Aligned Leisure used Culture Amp to baseline and track engagement—kicking off the survey with an internal campaign called “Align Your Thoughts” and reinforcing a clear, motivating vision. Results were strong: 74% overall engagement (7 points above benchmark), 87% agreed the customer is top priority (23 points above benchmark), and 76% said leaders communicated a clear vision (15 points above benchmark). The team continues quarterly or semi-annual surveying to benchmark transitions and guide future acquisitions.
