Telefonica, a global telecom with a strong presence in Spain and more than 2.5 million business customers, launched "Disco Virtual en Red" to meet demand for Spain-based, secure cloud storage. The company needed a single platform—hosted in its Spanish datacenters—that delivered hybrid local/cloud backup, secure file sync & share, mobile collaboration, multi-tenant private tenancies, and seamless integration with billing and provisioning systems while scaling to hundreds of thousands of customers.

Telefonica selected CTERA’s cloud storage platform—cloud service delivery, on-premises gateways and endpoint agents with a unified management console, AD/GPO and SSO support, and full NAS/protocol features—rebranded and hosted in Telefonica’s datacenters. The solution enabled remote management and upgrades, fast integration with existing systems, a rapid market launch and thousands of paying customers shortly after rollout, with continued month-over-month adoption and the capacity to scale further.
