Swisscom Creates Cloud Storage, Backup and Collaboration Services for Businesses

Swisscom IT Services, a wholly owned division of Swisscom AG and a leading Swiss provider of IT integration and managed services for about 400 business customers, wanted to turn its object storage investment into Swisscom-branded cloud offerings focused on data protection, collaboration and universal file access. The challenge was to find a comprehensive, easy-to-use and cost‑effective platform that could support multiple business applications and deployment models.

Swisscom selected CTERA’s platform—combining on‑premises gateways and the CTERA Portal integrated with its object storage—to deliver three services: managed local file storage (appliance with off‑site backup), StoreBox personal business storage (secure sharing and mobile access) and enhanced backup (server agents and long‑term vault snapshots). The deployment let Swisscom launch multiple private‑labeled services cost‑effectively, leveraging CTERA’s scalability, flexibility and multi‑platform support—what Swisscom called the best value and best fit for their needs.
