XO Communications, a U.S.-based provider of communication services for businesses and carriers, needed to modernize its back-office operations to control costs, improve flexibility, and better integrate billing with provisioning and order entry. Its heavily customized legacy billing system was outsourced and difficult to adapt, making it slow and expensive to launch new products, change prices, and support growth.
CSG International provided CSG Convergent Billing (Singleview), which XO brought in-house and integrated with its OSS environment to support complex billing, discounting, and bundling requirements. The results were significant: order flow-through improved by more than 10x, reject rates dropped to under 10%, staffing fell from more than 10,000 combined employees to about 4,400 after the Allegiance merger, system change timelines were cut by as much as 75%, and XO was able to meet FCC TRRO requirements within 30 days.
