Vivo, Brazil’s largest mobile telephony provider, worked with CSG International to upgrade its mediation environment as subscriber growth and EDR volumes pushed existing systems close to capacity. The challenge was to support rapidly increasing processing demand while reducing operating and capital expenses and integrating multiple legacy regional operations onto a common platform.

CSG International implemented an upgrade to Vivo’s mediation platform using Intermediate v6 on Intel Xeon blade servers, delivered in phased rollouts for online and batch processes. The new solution gave Vivo future-proof scalability and cut hardware upgrade costs by more than 65%, reduced upgrade hardware expenses by 90%, and lowered ongoing maintenance, space, and power costs while improving throughput by at least 20% above minimum requirements.
