Using Technology for Rural Upliftment & Women Empowerment

Vodafone Foundation partnered with CropIn to support a CSR initiative in Bundi, Rajasthan, an arid region facing rainfall deficits that were hurting crop cultivation and rural livelihoods. Farmers lacked farm data, activity schedules, and access to best practices, creating a need for practical agricultural technology to drive rural upliftment and women’s empowerment. CropIn’s SmartFarm product was used for this effort.

CropIn implemented farm digitization and farmer registration, standardized crop practices and monitoring, enabled pest and disease alerts with quick advisory support, and provided harvest estimation and scalability through an improved application. The project connected 404 village households, trained 404 farmers including 327 women and 7 women field officers, raised and resolved 451 farm alerts, achieved timely completion of 90% of field activities, and supported 90 metric tonnes of harvest production.
