Preview of the Unyson Logistics Case Study

Unyson Logistics Uses CBST to Improve Hiring Success Rate

Unyson Logistics, a St. Louis logistics and transportation company, wanted to improve hiring outcomes for its Logistics Coordinators—roles that demand organization, communication, problem solving, and attention to detail. Using traditional methods (resumes, job boards, interviews) the company’s hiring success rate was 65%, leading to higher turnover and training costs from poor hires.

Unyson administered the Criteria Basic Skills Test (CBST) to existing coordinators and compared anonymized scores to manager performance rankings, finding a strong correlation (r = 0.40, p < 0.01). High scorers were far more likely to be top performers (93% vs. 38% for low scorers); incorporating CBST into hiring would have raised success to 82% and reduced bad hires by 49%.
