A Criteria Corp Case Study
A national provider of installation and repair services with more than 3,000 field service technicians wanted to reduce turnover and improve productivity and service quality among its field workforce.
The company administered the Wiesen Test of Mechanical Aptitude (WTMA) to 142 incumbent technicians and compared scores to a combined job-performance rating (scale 5–15). There was a statistically significant correlation (.21): top WTMA scorers averaged a performance rating of 11.4 versus 9.3 for low scorers (about a 20% difference). Higher scorers also showed better customer satisfaction, fewer returns and complaints, and faster job completion, so the company rolled out WTMA testing for all Field Service Technician hires nationwide.
