Incept Saves Hundreds of Recruiting Hours with Criteria

Incept, a Canton, Ohio–based conversational marketing firm and multi-channel contact center (200–500 employees), needed to hire candidates who could deliver strong customer service but faced very high applicant volume—about 300 applicants per opening. With limited time for interviews, Incept sought a way to identify the most promising candidates early in the hiring process.

They implemented Criteria’s pre-employment assessments (aptitude, personality and skills tests such as CBST, SalesAP, CSAP, and a typing test) and worked with Criteria to set score cutoffs. In one year, of 1,556 online applications, 300 applicants did not pass or complete assessments, avoiding roughly 300 hours of interviewing. The tests also improved training outcomes, aided internal job matching and cross-training, and have been used successfully for nearly a decade.
